Janice Gardner Strickland
Janice Gardner Strickland, 71, died Saturday, November 24, 2018, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.
Ms. Strickland was the daughter of the late James Ernest and Gladys Elizabeth Rider Gardner, born March 11, 1947, in Halifax County, NC. In addition to her parents, Ms. Strickland was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Gardner Vaughan, and brothers, Tommy Alford Gardner and James Ernest Gardner.
Surviving is her daughter, Cecilia Ball and husband, Roy; son, Tommy Sanford and wife, Beth; sister, Barbara Silver; grandchildren, Cadence Ball, Haley Spivey, Emily and Taylor Sanford; special stepdaughter, Crystal Moss and family; niece, Teresa Harrell and family; nephew, Curtis Vaughan and family. Also surviving is her brother-in-law, Tony Vaughan, and a sister-in-law, Janet Gardner.
The family will have a gathering of friends to remember Janice's life on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in the honor of Janice Gardner Strickland to: American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
